From New Zealand

Last friday I left Caleb, David and Sherb to board a plane for New Zealand. I met my parents in Auckland friday night and since then we have taking down New Zealand. From our start in Auckland we have covered the whole north island and we are now 2 days into our trek of the south island. I heard before coming that the whole country is gorgeous. I didn't realize it literally means no matter where you are on the road, it is beautiful in all directions. At all times we can either see rolling green hills or the ocean and sometimes one on each side of the road. There are sheep galore. We have even been educated on sheep sheering and how they use their wool. We watched this guy sheep an entire sheep in about 60 seconds flat.

Our kayaking in Able Tasman National Park has been a highlight so far. We kayaked in clear blue water where we saw seals all over the rocks and a village of about 40 houses that can only be accessed by boat. We've seen both white and black sand beaches and even took a relaxing stop at some natural 'thermal pools.' Basically natural hot tubs.

We've covered a lot of ground but still have a ways to go on the more scenic south island. Tomorrow morning we head out on a whale watching adventure and then on to Christchurch and lake Tekapo.
