1) The front seats on the bus are for handicapped people, mothers with child strollers and old people.
We're sitting on the packed bus our first day with ALL of our stuff for about 30 before some lady gets on and basically yells at Sherb to get up and let this girl sit down who had her kid in a stoller. Yea it may seem like the polite thing to do, but you have to picture Sherb sitting under all of our huge bags and trying to keep them from falling on other people. She didn't hesitate to give him a piece of her mind.
2) Ketchup is called Tomato Sauce (pronounced Tom-ah-toe)
I've mentioned that we spend a good amount of time at Mcdonalds "Maca's" to get free wi-fi. Every time we asked for ketchup they would look at us with a really confused face and just turn around and ask co-workers if they had any (even though the packets say Heinz Tomato Ketchup). They would usually end up giving us 1 packet and maybe2 if we asked for a handful. This threw us completely off because we just thought we were going to have to quit eating it. Finally someone told us they call it Tomato Sauce! Now we ask for tomato sauce and they give us as much as we want!
3) Good 'on ya. It's another way of saying "good job," or "thank you," or "have a good day," really whatever you want it to mean.
4) Apparently the word 'carnival' doesn't mean carnival. The other day someone told us there was a carnival down the beach so we figured we would go down there watch the action and get some lunch. Well basically it was a swim meet in the ocean. No lunch to be had.
5) Its cheaper to buy an ice cream cone than a water at most restaurants. And I don't care what drink you get, no free refills.
6) LIFE LESSON: Don't ever let your toddler listen to your iPod, because they will FREAK OUT once you take it away.
We see all these mom's on the bus with toddlers in strollers. Well they let their kids listen to one of the headphones while they listen to music on their ipod. Maybe sounds like a good idea to entertain the kid, but EVERY time they take the headphone away, the babies freak out and reach for it until the moms give it back to them. It never fails. We even watch the mom's put the headphone back up to their ear without music and the kids will have none of it. They want music and they want it now.
We've learned a bunch of other do's and don'ts but thats all we remember for now.
