Back on the Road for a Full Week

I left you last sunday from the Gold Coast waiting on Australians to finish ANOTHER one of their holidays so they could fix our car. Monday night Caleb and I made our way on busses and trains back to Portugal so we could wake up Tuesday morning and be the first ones in line at the mechanic. Well we were successful and luckily only a $60 fix put us back on the road.

We set off for Noosa Heads for the first stop heading north. Luckily we hit an awesome swell and surfed some of the best waves of the trip! We surfed a point break with waves peeling off the point so you could ride them forever. The waves were so long, several times Caleb and I would get out and walk back around to the point instead of paddling back. It might have my favorite wave of the trip award.

2 days in Noosa and we continued north to meet our group for a trip to Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world. For the trip, we were put into a group of 7 and given a decked out Land Cruiser with camping gear and food to put on a barge and take over to the island where we had free reign. I really felt like, as kids they give you go carts on a track, and as adults they give you a Land Cruiser with an island as your playground; hard to beat if you ask me. So we spent 3 days and 2 nights camping and 4-wheeling around fraser island. The island was filled with wild dingos, we saw whales off the beach, and sharks in the water. Because of the white sand that filters water, fraser island has crystal clear lakes and creeks that were also fun to see and swim in.

As fun as it was, Caleb and I agreed that moving back into Portugal after camping on fraser island felt like we were back home. Funny how a comparison can change your whole perspective.

We finished our fraser trip on Sunday and now we're back in Noosa waiting on the girls. We'll go pick them up from the Brisbane airport tonight and tomorrow start making our way up to Airlie beach. The next adventure is a sailing trip through the Whitsunday islands.

Keep a lookout for Caleb's webisode from our week with Jamie on facebook. It should be up soon.

It's hard to believe we are pulling into our last month of the journey. Before I know it I'll be back on the job hunt in America. Until next time...
