Burger Night and The first Kangaroos!

I returned to Newcastle on Wednesday night. The night I got back, the guys had set up to go eat homemade burgers with a family from Church 180. The family came and picked us up from our house and took us to their home to eat. Let me explain what I mean when I say they had us over for burgers. 'Burger night' consisted of 15 of us sitting around their dining room table with the obvious hamburgers and buns and ketchup and lettuce but they also had 'heaps' of other stuff to go on the burgers. We're talking carrots, sauted onions, hot sauce, beet root, bbq sauce, honey mustard...ok i can't remember everything but the table was covered in burger toppings! Then after burgers we had this delicious chocolate rasberry cake!

As if that wasn't enough, after dinner we're sitting around their dining room and sherb goes and sits down at the drum set in the corner. Well over the next 2 hours the son brings out a base with amp, the dad gets out his guitar (which he completely shreds), and with the help of the parents we convince the daughters to sing. The whole family is incredible musicians and we sang along too. We had a blast playing music and singing that night.

Yesterday Caleb went to work a construction job for another man at the Church and David, Sherb and I went adventuring and found another rock hole by the ocean. There is a video on facebook of the first one if you haven't seen it. But basically you jump in and the waves come and throw you out onto the rocks. It's way too much fun. We see locals do it and then we just jump in with them.

Today we just got back from the Blackbutt reserve which is a zoo-type place where we saw our first Kangaroos and Koalas! It was awesome to see them but I'm still looking forward to the first time we see them in the wild.
